Welcome to the Transdermal Patch Application Course, aimed to provide staff the general guidelines to apply the skin patch, some variations may occur depending on the drug being used and its manufacturer.
A transdermal patch is a patch that attaches to your skin and contains the medication. The drug from the patch is absorbed into your body over a period of time. If you’d rather not have a pill or an injection, a patch may be a more comfortable option for taking some medications.
Upon completion of this course, the participants should be able to:
- Provide a standard method for administration of medications using a transdermal patch.
- Define criteria and indications/contraindications of transdermal patches.
- Define the responsibility of nursing staff involved in the administration of medications using transdermal patches.
