Welcome to the Breast Feeding Support and Promotion Course.
This course has been created as a means to assist nurses, other healthcare professionals and organizations to access education that is appropriate to their role in promoting breastfeeding. As such, it aims to develop the knowledge, skills and attitude required to implement internationally recognized best practices in breastfeeding to create a baby-friendly environment.
Upon completion of this course, the participants should be able to:
- Discuss the breastfeeding outcomes for mothers and infants, assist staff nurses and midwives to apply the best available research evidence to clinical decisions, and promote the responsible use of health care resources.
- Provide direction to staff nurses and midwives in promoting successful and enjoyable breastfeeding experiences.
- Discuss the concepts of promotion, protection and support of breastfeeding.
